Football Preview: College Station HS vs. John Tyler

November 14, 2019
204

This is a big week for varsity football as the College Station Cougars will start off the Texas State Playoffs versus the John Tyler Lions. The Cougars are coming into this match up 7-3, 5-2 with the Lions sitting at overall 3-7, and 3-3 in district. After an incredible comeback game from the Cougars against the Magnolia West Mustangs, College Station High School may just be getting started. Coming into the playoffs, the Cougars will need to have a boost from their big playmaker, Roderick Brown (#1) their quarterback, Austin Sosa (#15), and Kolbe Cashion, the running back beside Brown who had a huge game for the Cougars last week against Magnolia West. If College Station continues the momentum they started in the second-half of last week’s matchup, their chances this year look favorable.

The Cougars will need to make adjustments and play solid defense in the first half, and maintain sustainable opportunities for their playmakers to execute effectively. If they come up with a win this week, they will be looking at playing the victor between the Mansfield Legacy Broncos and the Lone Star Rangers. Odds are, they will be facing off against the 10-0 Rangers. They are ranked 9th in Texas and 53rd in the nation according to MaxPreps, while the Broncos are coming in as 4-6.  Either way, tomorrow night should be an exciting game at home for the College Station Cougars.

The Cougars will kick-off against the John Tyler Lions at home in College Station tomorrow night, Friday, November 15 at 7:00pm.
