A&M Consolidated Football Season Review

December 2, 2019

Forty-eight minutes had gone by and the most crucial play of the game was executed when the clock read “0:00.” In their last effort to settle the score, Tigers quickly moved into formation on the line of scrimmage as the clock ran out. Success on this play would have sent them into the regional round of the class 5-A Division II Playoffs.

The fight of the night was between the Fort Bend Marshall Buffalos and the A&M Consolidated Tigers for the second year in a row. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they would not be successful in their pursuit of redemption. The potential game-winning pass by senior quarterback, Gage Pahl, was broken up by the Buffalo’s defense to send Fort Bend into the regional round once again. All season, the Tigers had their eyes set on soaring past the area round for the first time since 2016. This goal seemed promising when the Tigers completed their regular season undefeated for the first time since 1990.

Despite the devastating loss, the Tigers have much to be proud of their 2019 season. Under Head Coach Lee Fedora, the Tigers finished the season 11-1 overall, with a reputation of big-win margins. Consol embarrassed almost every team that considered they could compete on the same field as this talented group of players. Huntsville fell short to Consol by ten points and this was the closest any team had come to threatening the Tigers’ undefeated season. Their stellar 2019 season has sent a message to future 2020 opponents; this is not a team to take lightly.

The Tigers will be losing key players in their offense and defense such as Gage Pahl, Devin Price, Brian Darby, and Nate Floyd. These young men were big components in the success of the Tigers this season. As Consol enters off-season in preparation for next year’s season, their last game will surely haunt the returning players. Expect to see Coach Fedora and the Consol Tigers come out hungry in hopes of advancing further in post season next year!
