2020 Girls Soccer Season Previews

December 3, 2019

Head Coach: Stoney Pryor

2018-19 Record: 24-4-3 (11-0-3 in district)

Key Players: Olivia Reichman (Sr), Reagan Bethke (Jr), Adriana Wagner (Jr)

Preview: The Lady Cougar soccer team has been a regional force to be reckoned with under the management of Coach Pryor. Last year they finished as district champs in the regional quarterfinals of the state tournament. This season they have a solid majority-senior class of athletes to leverage experience and lean on leadership, and it looks like another dominating season is in store for the Lady Cougars. They will kick off the beginning  of their 2020 season next week on December 12, in Huntsville at 7:00.

Head Coach: Stuart Keogh

2018-19 Record: 10-11-2 (9-5-1 in district)

Key Players: Bryce Houck, Kevlie Haas, Amberly McShane, and Cosette Mcguire are the seniors return from last year’s team. This year’s team looks to be a bit younger and is returning several underclassmen from last year’s team.

Head Coach: Madison Wood

2018-19 Record: 6-11-4 overall (4-7-2 in district).

Key Players:  Kaylee Anzualda (Sr), Jordan Little (Jr), Destiny Deluna (Jr), Lizeth Munoz (Jr), Amanda Farris (Jr).

Preview: “I'm really hopeful for the 2019-20 season. The girls have matured, they have an extra year of experience. As we get more comfortable with our formation, there will be other girls coming into the spotlight. Our main focus is to play as a team. My goal is to set them up to be more offensively dominant than we have been in the past. Take more shots, be more aggressive. We played a lot of the teams in our district pretty tight and I'm hoping this year that we figure out how to turn those ties and close losses into wins.” The Lady Rangers will kick off their season on December 28th.

Head Coach: Chris Gibson

2018-19 Record: 7-13-3 (5-10-1)

Key Players: Brandy Murillo (Sr), Sarah Gregory (Sr), Emeyda Cruz (So), Jane Covey (Jr),

Preview: The Lady Vikings lineup for the 2020 is composed of an entirely upperclassmen team, excluding sophomore Emeyda Cruz. Last year was a middling season of success and loss, and this year an older and far more experienced team may give Bryan a chance of longer-term success and a goal of reaching the playoffs.  On what his expectations are for this upcoming season, Coach Gibson said, “To compete.  I want my teams to show up every day ready both physically and mentally to compete to get better.  I am not asking them to win every game. However, I do expect them to compete every time they are on the field.  With that type of mentality, I know we can win games and have a positive experience this season."

Head Coach: Blake Chilton

2018-19 Record: (1-9), District 1-7

Key Players: Catherine Locket #3, Katie Vaughan #12, Maddie Carnes #33

Preview: Following their 2018 season, they are set to play January 8th at 6pm against Caldwell. They had 10 assists, 22 points per game, 596 steals last year.
