COLLEGE STATION HS

Head Coach: Jerry “JD” Sullivan

2018-19 Record: 35-3 (12-1 in district)

Key Players: #20 Jaden Hall (6’3, Sr), #2 Owen North, #15 Treztan Garcia.

Preview: When asked who their biggest competition would be this year, Coach Sulllivan replied, “Everybody. We may be picked last due to a new, younger team. We lost 8 of our 9 varsity players from previous season. It is just hard to replace 8 varsity guys. Biggest concern coming in is leadership. Patrick Chew was a phenomenal leader and then he moved. What is impressive since August is that our guys have completely stood up into a leadership role. Every workout is a good workout. They have team chemistry, and have played 80 games since last October. We’ve played in leagues, shootouts, and team camps.” The Cougars tipped off their 2019-2020 season with a win against Onalaska on November 15th, and are currently 1-3. Their next game is at home against Navasota tomorrow at 7:00pm, Tuesday, December 3rd.

A&M CONSOLIDATED HS

Key Players: Reece Peel (6’5, Sr), Timothy Bradford (6’1, Sr), Jaylen Harrison (5’10, Sr), and Senior Nate Floyd (5’10, Sr).

Preview: For a team that went 9-1 at home last year, this year’s A&M Consolidated team has high hopes for success with several experienced and talented seniors. Last year’s team won 81% of their games and scored 2,043 points.

RUDDER HS

Head Coach: Michael Carrabine

2018-19 Record: 26-9 (12-2 in District). 2018 Bi-District Champions. Lost in area playoffs of the 5A UIL state championship to Manor HS.

Key Players: Keithron Lee (2VL, Jr. 5-9 . 2.2ppg), Kentun King (Fr, 5'7), Kaiden Bridges (6'1, So), Carlos Moreno (5'10, Sr), Grayson Adams (6'3, Jr).

Preview: Rudder’s varsity boys basketball returns for this upcoming season 2.2ppg from a bi-District champion 26-10 team. Coach Carrabine commented on the look of his team’s prospects and goals for this season. “We're basically starting over from scratch. I believe we're improving daily with a very steep learning curve that were dealing with. I expect us to be a contender for one of the four playoff spots in 19-5A for 2019-2020. I'm excited about the possibilities in regard to the potential we possess.”

BRYAN HS

Head Coach: Jonathan Hines

2018-19 Record: 22-11 (10-6)

Key Players: Rodney Johnson Jr. (Jr), Dom Caldwell (Jr), Dylan Glover (So).

Preview: Coach Hines is working with a young team this upcoming season after losing some valuable starters from last year. “We have a very young inexperienced team.  We returned three players from last year’s team. However, the coaching staff is excited that our young players are getting an opportunity to get better and prove themselves on the court.  They are working hard and beginning to gel as a team.” Their first game of their 2019-2020 season begins tomorrow evening at 6:30pm at home, on December 3rd.

BRAZOS CHRISTIAN

Head Coach: Cameron Dague

2018-19 Record: Overall 19-7; Won district and lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs by Providence Classical School.

Key Players: Jake Olsta, received 1st team all-state last year averaging 17 points per game, and expected to improve on that average this year.

Preview: “We have 8 seniors on our Varsity team this year. My hope is that this will lead to a mature team in both play and character. We have the potential to win every game that we play, due to sheer talent, but that is not how it always plays out. I would predict that we will play around 28 games this year and go 20-8. Our district was fairly strong last year, and I do not anticipate that changing this year. Rosehill Christian School is probably the best team in our district. Outside of our district it is a mixed bag for what each school will bring to the Playoffs.”
