Aiming for the Fences: A&M Consolidated Baseball Hoping for Success in 2020

December 6, 2019

With the spring baseball season fast approaching, A&M Consolidated is quickly preparing for the upcoming season. From on field practice to working in the weightroom, Coach Lennerton is getting the team ready on all fronts. District play begins in March and the team has a long way to go before that day. The baseball season is the longest season in all of the major sports and this does not change when we look at college or high school. These players are going to be tested on and off the field and are going to have be working very diligently.

With their first official spring practice on January 31st, the countdown for many has begun already. Coach Lennerton says that he has two main goals for the fall “to prepare for competition and to get stronger”. With both of these goals in mind, Coach Lennerton has many ways for how the team can work towards reaching these goals in the spring. “We are approaching the fall in two ways”, Lennerton says. This consists of on field practice and weight room practices. On field practice is a combination of many different things according to Lennerton. A&M Consolidated baseball is using the latest baseball technology to aid them for their upcoming season. The second part of Lennerton’s fall ball process is working in the weight room in order to accomplish his second goal of getting stronger. Lennerton said they are in the weight room five days a week. Two of those days are strength days, two are speed days, and Friday’s are team competitions. The number one focus that Coach Lennerton highlighted on was the competition aspect. With that competitive edge already in mind, this would allow players to succeed more in season.
While the A&M Consolidated team is primarily junior/senior heavy, this will not stop the growth as a program according to Lennerton. When asked about his star players, Lennerton said every player on his roster has their own unique skills that makes them a top guy in his eyes. As he went through his roster listing each player, it seems as A&M Consolidated will be the team to beat this upcoming season.

From technology to old school practice drills, A&M Consolidated is heavily preparing for their spring season.  With the work that the team has put in, they believe that they will be able to showcase their talent from day one. With the off-season practices and change of mentality they can see a long season ahead. Also with some strong talent that they have with two current players committed to Texas A&M they will want to make sure they make a statement early.
